Isolation - lightboxes
Isolation. When i think of isolation, i refer to its meaning as the act of isolation something, setting it apart from others. I do not refer to the negative feeling of being disliked or being alone, but think of isolation as a way of being released from a certain context or the bigger picture.
The isolation of details from their environment will give them a different meaning. Each detail or object, most of the time unnoticable, has its own story. Seeing them apart from eachother, within another environment, or even its own, but represented by another medium, influences the perception of the location, context and the isolated elements themselves.
In psychiatry isolation has a similar meaning. It represents a defense mechanism in which memory of an unacceptable act or impulse is separated from the emotion originally associated with it.
