The Prince Bernhard Cultural Foundation aims to promote cultural activities and nature conservation in the Netherlands, and Dutch culture abroad. These aims are realized by granting subsidies, awarding prizes, commissioning or initiating projects and by granting scholarships.
The foundation supports initiatives in the visual arts, dance, theatre, literature, music, conservation of historic buildings and monuments, research in the humanities, cultural education and nature conservation. It is a national, private foundation with a Board of Trustees. The central office in Amsterdam deals with projects of national importance and projects abroad. Fifteen regional offices operate in the twelve provinces of the Netherlands and in the cities of Amsterdam, The Hague and Rotterdam. They support local cultural activities in their region. Each regional office has its own Board of Trustees and is administered autonomously.
